Director of Engineering Design, University of Auckland | PhD Mechanical Engineering, MIT
Mark’s career has moved between practice and research across three continents — product development engineering in Germany, Nepal and Ethiopia, followed by postgraduate study at MIT. His doctoral research, supported by the Tata Trusts in India, led him to remote sensing for small-plot agriculture and its potential to generate actionable data where field-based monitoring is operationally constrained. He provides the primary remote sensing and technical expertise underpinning Tōtāra’s agricultural work, leading the technical methodology directly rather than advising at arm’s length.
