Jason has over twenty years of senior leadership across government, international development and humanitarian operations in Africa, the Middle East and Southeast Asia. As Director, Humanitarian, NGOs and Partnerships Division at the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, he oversaw a global portfolio and led Australia’s disaster risk reduction response across donor, national programme and international obligation functions — bringing deep personal expertise in DRR and humanitarian supply chain management, and a working understanding of how funding decisions are actually made. On the consulting side, he held senior advisory and programme leadership roles with Oxford Policy Management, including national-scale resilience programming in Ethiopia. Earlier, he led operations as Country Director and in regional leadership roles across complex and high-risk contexts — including the Syria response — with World Vision, International Medical Corps, GOAL Global, MERLIN and Médecins Sans Frontières. Most recently he served as Group Chief Operating Officer of a multi-country enterprise across Zambia and Malawi. That combination — donor, implementer and adviser — produced a detailed understanding of how institutions function, where they fail, and what delivery genuinely requires. It directly shapes Tōtāra’s design and operating model.
