Mark brings ten years of research and development experience across Africa and South and Southeast Asia, including India, Nepal, Ethiopia and Uganda. His background is in product development engineering, beginning in Germany, before postgraduate study at MIT. His MIT doctorate, supported by the Tata Trusts in India, focused on remote sensing for smallholder agriculture and its potential to generate actionable data where field-based monitoring is operationally constrained. He provides the primary remote sensing and technical expertise underpinning Tōtāra's agricultural work, leading the technical methodology directly rather than advising at arm's length.
